Get to know me

Anya Napoli is the music you listen to when a possibly upsetting situation leaves you simply confused. With a voice that can slip into an intimate, conversational tone before soaring into a powerful high belt, she blends emotional maturity with the raw curiosity of someone still coming of age.

Anya’s journey began in Connecticut where she grew up surrounded by music, with a father who would sing her to sleep and a mother that wouldn’t let a moment in the car go by without the radio on. She’s the oldest sibling to her sister and brother who double as her greatest supporters and worst critics. That mix of encouragement and honesty shaped her voice, both literally and artistically, into something unflinching yet deeply relatable. Now based in Nashville, she is studying commercial voice at Belmont University.

Anya’s work includes elements of the music of her idols. Lauryn Hill’s lyrical honesty, Lianne La Havas’s graceful storytelling, Jill Scott’s soul-deep warmth, Aretha Franklin’s commanding presence, Amy Winehouse’s unfiltered edge, and Erykah Badu’s fearless individuality all echo in her music. Through them, she found a model for her own mission: to create music that tells listeners they are not alone. By exploring her own imperfections and inquiry’s she creates a model her listeners can follow and relate to.

That mission comes alive in her performances. Anya has taken the stage at venues like Toad’s Place, The Bitter End, The Wall Street Theatre, and The Fisher Center, each time pulling audiences into her world with authenticity and fire. Her experience touring nationally with the School of Rock All Stars sharpened her ability to connect with audiences of all sizes, whether she is pouring her heart out in an intimate room or commanding a theater full of people.

Right now, Anya is working on her debut single Drunk Cigarette, set for release this fall. Equal parts raw and raunchy, the song sets the tone for Anya’s music to come and marks the beginning of her journey as a recording artist. With a music video for Drunk Cigarette on the horizon and her follow-up single Heads or Tails in the works, Anya Napoli is stepping into the next chapter of her artistry.
